How to improve your golf swing?
Playing golf is fun and exciting, all the more when you have enough knowledge and skill on making that perfect swing. If you are searching for tips and tricks on how to improve your golf swing, then practice the following tried and tested suggestions recommended by professional golf players:
- The Hitchhiker – When you do your backswing, your right hand should take a “hitchhiking” position wherein the thumb is pointing upwards right when the club is parallel to your waist. Another tip is to do the “handshaking” gesture wherein the palms of your hands are facing sideways instead of upwards or downwards. Try and your golf swing will significantly improve itself.
- Pause before your Swing – When it comes to improving your golf swing, it is important to maintain your very own rhythm when doing this. This means that you need to pause for a while instead of swinging quickly when you are in position. Pause for a while when the club is on top of your backswing and then swing with power and acceleration to have more improved golf swing results.
- Swing with a stable Left Knee – Notice when you make a backswing that the left knee tends to collapse towards the right side. Try and get more balance by avoiding your left knee to collapse so your hips are more controlled and shoulders will stay upright. The key to improving your golf swing is to let both knees become stable and balanced when you swing. Try practicing your golf swing with a basketball between your knees and you’ll know what I mean.
- Stable Right Knee – When it comes to the right knee, you should always maintain balance by keeping your weight at the inside of your right foot. For more backswing power, you should slightly bend your right knee but keep it as solid as a rock so you can send your ball flying up up and away.
- Use Your Leg and Trunk Muscles – One common mistake for golf beginners is using their wrists and arms to derive power on a backswing. This is entirely wrong as golf is not your usual wrist game; instead make use of the muscles from your torso and legs so you can achieve consistent powerful golf swings.
- Balance and Tempo Are Essential – Improve your stance, balance and tempo by practicing golf swings with your feet about 6 inches apart from each other. This technique will allow you to improve your balance, rhythm and tempo so when you return to your normal stance you will have more improved golf swings to brag about.
Practicing the above mentioned tips will significantly improve your golf swing. Just take note that practice makes perfect so be patient and keep on trying out the tips mentioned above so you can play golf like a pro in no time.
