7 o’clock to 1 o’clock Golf Swing

Posted on Thursday, 1st October 2009 in Tips

7 o’clock to 1 o’clock Golf SwingOf all the sports which are gaining popularity steadily over the years, golf has proved to be significant. More and more people are getting attracted to the sport, and are trying to learn it. Beginners are keen about gaining knowledge about the various aspects of golf, and improving their skills.

Getting the swings correct and hitting perfect strikes is essential to become good at the game. Therefore, the player has to consider fine-tuning all the related aspects such as his posture, control and co-ordination of the club, and the way the swings are delivered. 7 o’clock to 1 o’ clock golf swing is considered to be the appropriate swing for beginners to learn to stroke properly.

It is very common in case of inexperienced as well as some practised golf players to take swings which are on the right to the target. This is known as a Slice. The player could try to picture the target at 12 in a clock, and swing from 7 o’clock to 1 o’clock. This move is said to help correcting any tendency the player’s swing has towards the right side.

While trying to make a 7 o’clock to 1 o’clock, player has to ensure that other factors are in line as well. The posture should be appropriate, that is, the player should maintain a straight stance. Wrong angle of back does not help in attaining a perfect swing. Also, the club should not be swung too wide.

In a 7 o’clock to 1 o’clock golf swing, the player should keep his hands parallel. However, while swinging, the right arm should be turned over the left arm, to get it right.

In order to get a 7 o’clock to 1 o’clock golf swing right, it is required that the player trains and maintains a good control over his muscle movement.

The Quick and Best Cure For a Slice in Golf

Posted on Friday, 14th August 2009 in Tips

A golf player also has many areas of improvement such as his golf swing, grip and stance that matter a lot. However, they are not as frustrating as a sliced shot! Is there any best cure for a slice in golf? Let us discuss about this at length.

Before moving on to the best cure for a slice in golf, we should know why it happens in the first place. A golf slice is caused due to aerodynamic drag. When a golf ball is hit in the air, it is slowed down by the force of air acting against it. It would keep on flying if it did not have such air resistance, as in space. Your golf ball slices because of two primary reasons, the first one being an open club face and the second one being that you are chopping the ball by coming in its way.

Can Golf Slice be fixed?

Of course, yes.  These are some techniques to fix the golf slice:

  1. To cure the open club face, square-up your feet, shoulders, hips, hands and the rest of the body to your club face. This will give a better alignment.
  2. Try to keep your lower body unmoved till the complete swing is done.
  3. You have to adjust your grip as tight or loose based on the flight of your ball. this can be done by strengthening or weakening the position of your hands by the club shaft.
  4. Lastly, brush up your golf fundamentals regularly. Do not start a swing if it is poorly aligned, as it will end up the same way. This can be the best cure for a slice in golf.

Which is the Proper Golf Swing Posture

Posted on Thursday, 21st May 2009 in Tips

golf-swing-postureThe importance of a correct posture has been emphasized by golf trainers for quite some time now. But there are still some golfers who neglect their posture. They must remember that a good posture is one that is constant in a forward tilt of approximately 30 degrees from the hips and NOT the waist! In spite of this, they aim for a proper golf swing and haste to set up the ball for a game. It would be better if they devote some time for improving their posture and check whether their weight is uniformly distributed due to that.

A good posture is something very basic that a golfer needs to think about. For a proper golf swing, it is essential to maintain your balance and keep the club on the much wanted swing path. This way you can enhance your club head speed and add power to your swing. The recommended posture for a proper swing is known as the one o’clock swing posture.

Tell me more about it.

As we have seen before, you need to tilt yourself in the front from the hips at 30 degrees. To get an idea of how much you need to bend for 30 degrees, imagine that you are standing in the middle of a clock’s face. If your upper body (excluding arms) is the top hand, it must be pointed towards one o’clock. This position is suitable for a proper golf swing.

This posture should be sustained for as long as possible, right from your backswing to the end. With this posture, you will be kept away from moving up or down when the swing is going on. It will also direct the club on the right path, which is said to be 90 degrees to your spine.

It must be noted that the review pages of the best swing courses must be read before choosing any of them for improving your proper golf swing.
